Club Atlético del Rosario Under 19s

In February 2016, a group of coaches and young rugby players from Club Atlético del Rosario arrived in New Zealand. As a unit, they travelled to Palmerston North to attend a customised course at IRANZ.

This week, they were crowned National Club Champions of Argentina.

Coaching a rugby team is a truly great challenge. The bigger the team, the bigger the microscope – and this week, there was a lot of attention on Steve Hansen and his coaching staff.

A team's performance is judged on a weekly basis, but the performance of a coach on the other hand is judged by a team's progress ie. did the team get better as the season wore on?

John Eggleton

As a former rugby player himself, John Eggleton had a sound knowledge of the game before he started coaching. However as his kids grew older and he began coaching competitive secondary school teams, John learned how the performance of a rugby team can truly be influenced by the knowledge and ability of their coach.

John made the conscious decision to upskill himself through IRANZ, and was rewarded for his effort.
