14 Graduates to represent New Zealand against the Lions

Last week, the All Black and Maori All Black squads were named to take on the British and Irish Lions.

Continuing on the legacy of national IRANZ representatives, these squads included a whopping 14 IRANZ Graduates.

The Maori All Blacks named a 27-man squad, which included five of our Graduates:

  • Chris Eves, High Performance Players Course 2009
  • Mike Kainga, Advanced Players Course 2007
  • James Lowe, High Performance Players Course 2011
  • Leighton Price, Club Development Players Course 2007
  • Rob Thompson, Advanced Players Course 2009

All of these players will be hoping to make the match day squad this Saturday, for the Maori All Black’s one and only match against the British and Irish Lions.

The All Blacks however named a slightly larger 33-man squad for their three match series against the Lions.

The All Black squad included a total of nine Graduates:

  • Aaron Cruden, High Performance Players Course 2008
  • Israel Dagg, Advanced Players Course 2006
  • Charlie Faumuina, High Performance Players Course 2007
  • TJ Perenara, Advanced Players Course 2008
  • Ardie Savea, Advanced Players Course 2009
  • Julian Savea, Advanced Players Course 2008
  • Liam Squire, Advanced Players Course 2009
  • Codie Taylor, Advanced Players Course 2008
  • Ofa Tu’ungafasi, High Performance Players Course 2011

While each of the above players have worn the famous black jersey before, no doubt that each and every one of them will be hoping for a chance to don the jersey against the touring Lions side.

These names can also be observed on our Honours Board.
