Welcome to the International Rugby Academy of New Zealand
Since 2002, the International Rugby Academy of New Zealand (IRANZ) has provided high-performance programmes and services for rugby players, coaches and teams from within New Zealand and across the rugby globe.
Our aim is to maximise the potential of rugby individuals, teams and organisations. After more than sixteen years in operation, we have worked with players, coaches and teams from over 35 countries.
They say to be the best, you have to learn from the best – that’s why the coaching staff and tutors available at IRANZ represent some of the most qualified and highly-respected coaches and former players in world rugby today.
For players, there is a strong focus on position-specific tuition, skill development, mental toughness, rugby intelligence and self-management. Our set programmes include modules to foster intensive development in each of these areas – leading to improved performance both on and off the field, and laying the foundation for future development, long after the Course is complete.
For coaches, it is a rare opportunity to work intensively with the world’s best coaches in a practical environment. Set programmes focus on developing a structure, strategy and blueprint that each participant can implement within their own environment. Using a camp-style environment to deliver rapid development and learning, our programmes will exponentially accelerate coach development.
For teams and organisations, IRANZ provides a Customised Course service that can be adopted for team/club tours, pre-season camps, clinics and spot coaching. With expertise and specialists across all areas of the game, IRANZ has the ability to design and tailor programmes to meet the specific needs of each individual client.
If you’re ready to maximise your potential, you’ve come to the right place.
As former All Black Captain Murray Mexted watched rugby turn professional in the 1990’s, he thought long and hard about the future of the game and what part New Zealand would play.
As he looked back fondly on his own rugby career, he knew something needed to be done to pave the way for future All Blacks. He got to work on an Academy concept, based on the ‘camp environment’ he’d become so familiar with as a touring All Black.
Murray decided the Academy would provide camp-style Courses for promising players, that would allow players to learn 1:1 from former All Blacks. However, what he quickly discovered was that this concept could be applied, not only for players, but also for coaches and teams seeking accelerated development.
Fast forward to today, and Murray Mexted remains as the Managing Director of IRANZ – the most comprehensive rugby education provider in the world.
