2018 BLK Scholarship

Applications are now open for the 2018 BLK Scholarship.

The Scholarship is open to all male players aged 18 years and over in New Zealand. To complete your application, click Apply Now and submit the application form.

The winner of this Scholarship will be awarded a position on our High Performance Players Course, to be held from 28 January – 16 February 2018. More details about the course are listed below:

The High Performance Players Course has been designed to propel promising young rugby players into the realm of professional rugby. Designed for highly talented male rugby players aged 18+ years old, accepted applicants will have playing experience at a high-level and have strong aspirations to play professionally.

The High Performance Players Course covers the following aspects:

  • Fitness assessments
    • Aerobic and flexibility
    • Speed and strength
  • One-on-one evaluations with a nutritionist, sports psychologist and physiotherapist
  • Intensive one-on-one, position-specific analysis with an elite coach/player
  • Video and match analysis
  • Media and presentation skills
  • Career development
  • Strength and conditioning programme development
  • Injury prevention and recovery regimes

Participants will receive world-class position-specific coaching; direct tuition from both former and current international players and coaches in the player's chosen position. This ensures participants are learning from the very best and are given the very best opportunity to reach their potential as a player.

The High Performance Players Course is a proven platform to professional rugby – with approximately half of course graduates successfully transitioning to a professional contract.

Graduates
All Blacks that have completed the High Performance Players Course include Anthony Boric, Aaron Cruden, Jason Eaton, Charlie Faumuina, Vaea Fifita, Cory Jane and Alby Mathewson.

Springbok Francois Steyn and England International Nick Abendanon are also graduates of this course.
