IRANZ Insight: No perceived weaknesses.

No perceived weaknesses. Yes we have the cattle.

Now the team is complete. Providing the referees don’t destroy the flow of the game, any other team will need to play exceptionally well to beat the All Blacks.

Frizell fits the Jerry Collins, Jerome Kaino mould, especially on attack where he is powerful enough to break the gain line and produce the all important go forward ball needed for our wide attacking style that few, if any, teams can match. He has the smash and bash factor to beat the real contenders who dominate upfront: South Africa and England. He is ample backup for Reid and we need it.

Savea is too dangerous in general play to be used as a traditional six. He’s an x-factor player who does it all. He supports the backs and has the speed to finish.  Most importantly he’s a try scorer.

Selection is always “horses for courses” – even more so at this world cup where players need to be kept fresh.  We have different players and combinations within the squad to play different styles or strategies depending on the opposition and conditions.

Expect to see a continuation of the two openside flanker option against the teams we can beat up front.  We have the speed to retain, regain and entertain.

Que la fete commence!
