Talent v Attitude

Talent can get you to the top, but attitude will keep you there.

For the last 20 years, I have observed and enjoyed the progress of players following their stint at IRANZ.

Spencer Jones was born in Canada to a Canadian mother and Kiwi father.  His parents understood the personal development a team sport like rugby can provide a young man. During his teens he attended Intermediate and Advanced Players courses at IRANZ, which laid a solid foundation and prepared him for a career in rugby.

This came to fruition in the last few weeks when Spencer was selected for Canada and played against the USA in the RWC qualifying series. He was named player of the match on debut.

IRANZ has shown over the last 20 years that attitude is king and Spencer is a great example of this. He has a great attitude to learning and becoming as good as he possibly can in his sport. Rugby is a minor sport in Vancouver with many obstacles to overcome. Spencer now plays professional rugby for the Toronto Arrows in the US Pro competition, Major League Rugby.
